Tackle Toxins

We participate in a national campaign to raise awareness of the presence of toxic substances in every day materials from personal care products to cash register receipts.  Known carcinogens, heavy metals and hormone disruptors are components  of many bath and beauty supplies. Other toxic exposures – from air pollution, cleaning products and pesticide residues – place a toxic burden on the body. The so-called “diseases of civilization” – diabetes, hyper-activity, reproduction problems and some cancers – seem to result from the accumulation of these materials in our bodies.  The long term health impacts – and costs – are enormous.

At IREJN, we offer practical solutions, education, advocacy and inspiration in the face of this challenge:

*See the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics (http://www NULL.safecosmetics NULL.org/) to see how safe your care products are;

*Invite us to your community for a Natural Spa.  We’ll study some common toxins in care products and make our own supplies (lip balm, shampoo or hand cream) out of common and safe materials.  Fun for all ages!

*Sign on to our Christian Principles (http://www NULL.nccecojustice NULL.org/health/ehprinciples NULL.php) or Interfaith Principles (http://www NULL.nccecojustice NULL.org/health/interfaith_statement_eh NULL.php) for Environmental Health; help us tell congress how important this issue is to people of faith.

Treat your body and your planet like the precious miracles they are!
